Showing normal growth. Not too fat or too thin. Free from signs of Illness.
The coat should be clean and healthy. Trim only according to breed specifications. The undercoat should be combed out unless the climate or season precluded this. Hooves should be trimmed evenly so the feet stand squarely on the ground.
The animal should be clean and free from any dirt in the coat. The face should be cleaned thoroughly with special attention to eyes and nose. Remove all traces of alfalfa dust. The tail should be cleaned of all fecal matter, stickiness or matting from discharge. Hooves should also be free from fecal matter and accumulated dirt. The ears should be clean.
The exhibitor should be neatly dressed. White costumes are preferred for showmanship classes. No shorts.
